LAS PALMAS SALE GRAUDATE IMPRESSIVE WINNER IN INDIANA HEARTLAND JUVENILE


SHELBYVILLE, IN—JUNE 6, 2009—Ignacio Soto's Gallant Corona scored his third straight win in as many starts Saturday night in the $95,700 Heartland Juvenile Stakes at Indiana Downs.

The son of CORONA FOR ME recovered from a slow start to score an impressive 1 ¼ length victory. He covered the 300 yards in :15.663 seconds.

Saddled by Rolando Almanza the brown colt earned $54,549 for his effort to push his career earnings to nearly $60,000. Riley Carter was on board the colt who was also the fastest qualifier from five trials contested on May 23.

Bred by Jesus Molina, Gallant Corona first sold in the Las Palmas Classic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale on November 23rd at Las Palmas Downs near McAllen, Texas. Soto signed the ticket for $30,500 to become the colt's owner.

Marivel Olvera's Champ Du Jour finished second earning $18,183. The Royal Miracle Dip gelding was saddled by James Locklear with Victor Olivo in the irons.

Magic Jig, owned and trained by James Locklear, finished third. The Heza Just A Jiggolo filly earned $10,001 with Harold Collins up.

Completing the field were El Campecino, Johnny Knoxville, Money On Cartel, Shez Hopeful Too and Blackberry Jam Man. Cf Mighty Leonidas finished ninth but was disqualified and placed last.
